The SDT 170 saves money. Regular use of the SDT 170 enables the efficient planning of machine downtime which leads to better productivity. The ability to pinpoint leaks in systems can also lead to significant savings of up to 30% in energy costs.
The SDT 170 is ergonomically designed and user-friendly. The SDT 170 is a comfortably designed hand-held instrument controlled by an eight key touch pad. A generous Liquid Crystal Display, 3cm x 6cm is protected by a Borosilicate glass screen and displays all parameters needed for its use in 8 or more different languages. The technical training requires about ten minutes. An extruded aluminium outer shell is protected by "anti-shock" insulation and the NMHD rechargeable battery block uses latest battery technology allowing more than eight hours of use and unrestricted charging practices.
The SDT 170 is intelligent. The SDT 170 automatically recognises the sensors upon connection and switches to appropriate parameters and measuring mode accordingly. Some versions are equipped to accept user-defined parameters such as the measurement and collection of data at set intervals. The use of flash EEPROM technology allows us to transmit by Internet updates, and improvements to our dealers and users worldwide.
The SDT 170 is digital and versatile. The advanced, state of the art, digital SMT electronics permits the use of other original accessories. The SDT 170 processes data digitally, displays it digitally, and outputs it in standard digital protocol formats. As our customers develop new applications, we meet their requests by developing sensors to suit those needs. Whether the result of a request or as a perceived need for industry, over time the SDT 170 will expand its functionality and versatility indefinitely.
The various versions of the SDT 170.
In short:
SDT 170 S: basic detector.
SDT 170 S+: same characteristics as the SDT 170 S, with moreover the digital display of the measured value.
SDT 170 M: up to 1000 points, each measurement point can store up to 4 measurement values. The newest data replace the oldest one (FIFO); this unit cannot memorize any route.
SDT 170 M+: same characteristics as the SDT 170 M, with moreover the possibility of data transfer from the SDT 170 M+ towards a PC.
SDT 170 MD: this unit can memorize 128 routes. Each route can have up to 1,000 points. Each point can memorize up to 4 measurements. One route can therefore memorize 4,000 data. The route 000 works as a scratch pad and cannot receive a preloaded route.
Upgrading - any version of the SDT 170 detector can be
upgraded to any higher version, thus gaining all its possibilities (except the SDT 170 MD - Multifunctional DataManager).

Regularly and for different reasons, the software version from the SDT 170 ultrasonic detector can be updated. One of these reasons, is the implementation of a new sensor in our SDT product line, another reason can be the addition of a language, the most common reason being a technical improvement in the core software.
This makes the SDT 170 the only Ultrasonic Multifunctional detector in the world that is always up to date.
Every owner of an SDT 170 detector can download this software update. The only things needed are a cable, an Internet connection, and an unzip software.
The difference between updating and upgrading is:.
Updating is downloading the latest software version into the SDT 170, without changing the level of
the equipment. (the build number will be changed).
Upgrading - any version of the SDT 170 detector can be
upgraded to any higher version, thus gaining all its possibilities (except the SDT 170 MD - Multifunctional DataManager).
